Tokyo day 6

Tokyo day 6

Today was extremely hot, but Robin and I ventured out to Asakusa again to do a bit of shopping. We didn’t stay too long though, as it was just sweltering. Instead, we headed back to the hotel, looking forward to jumping in the pool. We got changed into our swimmers (Robin has a special swim nappy) and went to the pool. When we got there, they informed us that it was going to cost 4000 yen! That’s about $55!!! And that was the “discounted” rate for guests. Not happy. So we went back to the hotel room and stayed in the air conditioning, playing and singing songs.

Peter was also shocked about the pool price, and spoke to the front desk about it. They said it was policy, Peter countered with the fact that no other Intercontinental hotel charges guests to use the pool, so it can’t be intercontinental policy. Then they said it was to keep the numbers down, since there is 800 rooms and not enough room at the pool for everyone. What a joke.

Anyway, we went out for dinner, and when we got back, there was hand written note from the hotel manager to apologise for the inconvenience and to give us a voucher for the pool for he rest of our stay. They had obviously looked up how often Peter stays here and realised he is a VIP. Pity we weren’t able to use Peter’s frequent stayer status earlier today when we actually wanted it. Oh well.

No photos from today, we were all a bit hot and bothered. But tomorrow, we’re going to Disneyland! (Side note, the full day all inclusive ticket to Disneyland is the same a “non-guest” entry to the hotel pool – um what?!?!)
