Day 23

Quarantine…

As reported yesterday, Peter came home from Japan with a cold. Best attempts have been made so that Nicki doesn’t get sick as well. These measures include Peter being confined to the couch to play Xbox, drink tea or sleep, whilst Nicki does the shopping, makes the tea & food, and tidies the kitchen. However, whilst out shopping, Nicki’s nose began to run and her eyes were itchy.. Oh oh!

Nicki thinks it’s just hay fever – but to be on the safe side, she is not able to visit Robin today. Instead, we called the SCBU nurses. They recommended staying home in case Nicki has caught Peter’s cold, as infection could be bad news for poor Robin. They gave a quick update on his stats, he has gained another 20gms, taking his weight to 1.48kg. Almost 1 & 1/2 kgs!

He has also been on optiflow 4L/min, but good news is that he didn’t gave any bradys, desats or apnea events for over 12 hours. Looks like his lungs are rested and we will likely be able to reduce his optiflow back down again tomorrow.

Since Peter and Nicki aren’t able to visit, granny Suzy is going to go in and cuddle Robin for a while. This will be the first time anyone other than Nicki or Peter has held him. Even when we can’t be there, we really want Robin to get some skin on skin cuddle time every day. Thanks Suzy! Good news is that Nicki hasn’t felt sick or had a runny nose since returning home, so it looks like just hay fever, and she should be able to go back to the hospital tomorrow.
