Day 31

Lot of smiles

Now that Nicki’s cold sore has healed, she’s back to visiting. Robin was very happy to see her. As soon as she started talking, he grabbed her finger, looked up and smiled lots. He certainly seemed happy she was back!

He has had another stable day, minimal desats, no bradys. His optiflow has been turned down to 4L/ min, and is happily tolerating 22mls of milk every 2 hours.

The nurse Zo, forgot to order milk for him from the milk room today, so luckily Nicki has an abundant supply and just expressed some more for him. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if she wasn’t there, the nurse would have just defrosted some of the stored frozen milk, but it’s great to have the fresh stuff available.

Nicki did her first (of three) supervised gavage feeds. It went very smoothly, and Robin fell asleep straight away afterwards. Nicki also put some milk on his dummy and gave it to him, which he was most pleased about.

In other exciting news, Robin is happy to announce that Peter gave Nicki a ring and asked a very important question over the weekend! We’ve done the trifecta and bought a house, had a baby and now, we’re engaged, all in one year! Robin is very interested in the ring, and likes to stare at it. So does Nicki 😉
