Auckland day 1

Auckland day 1

We planned to spend a lazy morning in the hotel, but then Robin did a big poo on Peter, which although it was funny, meant a trip to the laundromat. Nicki and Robin found one fairly close, and did a load of washing, before heading out with peter to lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant with Peter’s friend, Pete.

After lunch, we caught a ferry to Devonport & went on an hour long tour. We saw some extinct volcanos, lots of pretty weatherboard houses and some amazing views of Auckland.

Once back at the hotel, we had to change rooms, because the one we had stayed in the previous night had had an adjoining door to another hotel room. Unfortunately, that meant there wasn’t any soundproofing, and our neighbour woke Robin up by making a phone call early in the morning. We also didn’t want to disturb anyone in the adjoins room if Robin cried. The hotel was very nice, and upgraded us to a “club room”.

Before going out for dinner, we stopped in at the hotel club lounge for a glass of champagne, whist Robin charmed the staff. They were asking to hold and entertain him!

For dinner we went to a fancy dinner called Sugar club on the 53rd floor at the Auckland sky tower. Robin slept on the way there, but woke up just in time to need constant attention during the detestation menu :-/

Between Nicki and peter, both of them managed to eat the amazing food whilst balancing Robin. He certainly has a sixth sense for knowing when his parents want to eat! We stopped and had a quick look on the observation deck after dinner, then headed back to the hotel & to bed.
