Day 68

Embedded account – no more tubes.

Today we arrived very early to SCBU2 to find that Robin’s final support component – his nasal gastric tube – had been removed. After 36 hours without needing a gavage feed, he was deemed to be suckling well enough to no longer need it, even as a backup.

Why were we in so early? Well this post is being sent from inside the parenting unit attached to the neonatal ward, where we are spending the whole day and night looking after Robin virtually unassisted in a kind of hotel room.

All being well, Robin will come home with us tomorrow.
