Day 69

Robin is home!

After 69 long days at the women’s and children’s hospital, we are so happy to bring Robin home today! Big thanks to the doctors and nurses of NICU and SCBU, our friends and family that could visit us in the hospital, and everyone else who has overwhelmed us with love and support.

While we settle into our new routine, we might not update this blog as often, but will try to maintain weekly updates and photos.

Now that Robin is home, we have a very important reminder for potential visitors. Please remember that Robin is still small and even though he isn’t in the hospital anymore, he continues to have special needs simply because he was born early.

Our little premmie has a weakened immune system, and germs and viruses are still dangerous for him. If you are wanting to visit, please make sure you contact us first.

If you are feeling off in just the slightest please don’t visit us until you are well. We can’t stress this enough. A cold or small infection could be catastrophic for Robin – we really don’t want to end up back in hospital.

I’m sure your children in particular are the healthiest children in the world, but the risk of infection from kids is really high. Doctors orders, we can’t have any children visit. Please don’t ask if you can bring your kids anyway – we really don’t enjoy saying no. Also, if your little one has been sick, please stay away even if you don’t have any symptoms (yet).

The best way to stop the spread of outside germs is to wash and sanitise your hands on arrival. We’ll have plenty of soap, hot water and hand sanitiser available.

You might be able to touch him or hold him (with our consent) as long as you have washed and sanitised your hands, but no kisses please – anywhere, at any time, no matter how delicious he looks. In fact, please don’t put your face anywhere near his face or hands. If you absolutely insist on kissing him, please ask first and do so on the top of his head where he can’t reach!

Please message us if you have any questions. We really appreciate everyone’s understanding
