Tokyo day 8

Tokyo day 8

Our supplies of nappies and baby formula are running low, so today’s mission was to find a shop that we could buy both. It turned out to be a bit harder than we anticipated!

We caught he subway out to a shopping area, but they mostly has department stores like David Jones, rather than groceries. We found one that sold formula first, so we got that, then continued our quest for nappies. We also found a shop that had a giant Manike Neko (lucky cat) which Robin thought was pretty cool.

After visiting a few places, we finally found a supermarket that sold nappies. We stood there for quite a while trying to work out which nappies were the right fit and type for Robin. In Australia, they tend to have boys nappies and girls nappies, that have maximum absorbency in different parts of the nappy, for maximum effectiveness. In Japan, it’s just one type for both boys or girls, but you can choose “pull up” or “side tabs”. It took as a while and some help from Google to figure all this info out! We picked a packet, then paid and headed out for a late lunch, then back to the hotel to shower & pack. On the subway back, Robin really wanted to hang onto the yellow subway handles so we got him out of his pram and Peter held him up. He really wants to get involved in the world and do whatever other people are doing!

For dinner, we were meeting up with Peter’s boss Andy. We got Robin all dressed up, and then we had to change his nappy TWICE just before we left. Apparently it is important to do a nervous poo or two just before you meet Daddy’s boss. Haha. We went to a great Shabu Shabu restaurant and had a wonderful meal before heading back to the hotel. Robin was very tired and fell asleep in my shoulder before we even made it to the hotel. He looked cute, but he was heavy! Tomorrow we are off to Taipei!
